Google Revamps Maps App

An important update to Google Maps app for Mobiles ...
Google Maps Android UpdateNot sure I liked this update at first but I have got used to it now! I recently tried a "turn by turn directions" comparison between my Tom Tom and Google Maps. I found that the Tom Tom was still much better as it gave clearer instructions, more warning and all street names. I found that Google Maps treated a roundabout as a left, then a right turn - it did not tell you which exit to take!

Microsoft is in a difficult position with Windows RT ...
The Haswell chips from Intel could really "put the cat amongst the pigeons"! Microsoft went down the ARM route to get tablet styled battery life. They may not have needed to do this at all!

This Google Play Edition (GPE) HTC phone is not running the HTC Sense software but is loaded with pure "unadulterated" Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It appears that both HTC and Samsung will have GPE versions for Android purists who want non of the clutter that normally comes with manufacturer's own flavour of the Android software. This allows these phones to get the very latest Android software updates as soon as they are publicly available from Google.
